Greater Manchester & High Peak Ramblers

About Us

The Greater Manchester and High Peak Area is one of a number of umbrella organisations within the Ramblers which co-ordinate the needs of Ramblers Groups.

Our walks are organised by ten groups based on the Metropolitan Boroughs of Greater Manchester:

and four non-geographical groups:

The walks are wide-ranging, from peat-covered gritstone moors to country parks, urban green spaces and post-industrial urban landscapes of mills and canals, and extend beyond Greater Manchester and its surroundings.

To promote environmentally friendly walks, many of our groups organise walks which make use of public transport connections and hired coaches. During a typical week there are more than 20 area and group walks, from moderate strolls with café stops to strenuous hikes - something for everyone!
